Club Tools Available for Member Loan.
This is the classic “old school” tool found in almost every Healey enthusiast’s garage.
Body: A specialized housing with a glass or plastic tube mounted vertically in the center.
The “Float”: Inside the tube is a small, lightweight bead (the “red pill”).
The Dial: A rotating threaded disc at the top or center that allows you to calibrate the airflow.
Operation: You press the rubber base against the throat of the carburetor. The engine’s vacuum lifts the bead. You adjust the carb’s idle screw until the bead hits the same level on both (or all three) carburetors.
