A simple precision-made metal or plastic bar shaped to fit the clutch disc’s splines and extend into the pilot bearing in the back of the crankshaft. For Healeys, there are specific tools made to match the number of splines and dimensions of the Austin-Healey clutch; for example, kits specify 10-spline versions for models like the 100-6 and 3000.Install the clutch disc and pressure plate on the flywheel — but don’t tighten the bolts fully yet. Insert the clutch alignment tool through the disc’s splines so that the end seats in the pilot bearing. Hold the splined hub exactly centered while you torque up the pressure plate bolts — this keeps the disc from walking off centre. Remove the tool and slide the transmission input shaft in easily when you drop the gearbox back on. In broader Austin-Healey maintenance, alignment can also refer to wheel alignment or suspension alignment adjustments,
