Prior to moving from Cleveland to the Detroit area in 1965 I was involved with several SCCA race cars. a Formula VEE and an HP Sprite. Shortly after moving here my wife found an ad in the paper for a Bug Eye Sprite for $200. The young owner had been drafted in the Army and his parents wanted to get rid of it. I drove the car on the street for several years before modifying it and getting my SCCA Regional License. I raced it for 4 years, with some success, before selling it and getting involved with another race car.
My current 1959 Bugeye was purchased from BugEyeGuy in Bradford, CT on March 24, 2014. I joined the Healey club shortly after.
The chassis Number is AN511255.
The car was restored by someone in Protland, Oregon, date unknown. I am aware of two other previous owners. One in California and one in Arizona. Neither of them drove the car much.
The body and interior remain mostly as received.
I have preformed some performance power train upgrades.
